Questo disegno è uno dei molti in cui Narcisse Berchère ha rappresentato il paesaggio desertico dell'Egitto, che la Francia aveva tentato di colonizzare pochi decenni prima. Qui, una festa di viaggiatori cammina attraverso uno spazio piatto e espansivo accompagnato da cammelli. Dopo aver studiato a Parigi, Berchère ha fatto il suo primo viaggio in Nord Africa, che ha servito come ispirazione per gran parte del suo lavoro.
