Questo lavoro mostra la firma del trattato di capitolazione da parte degli inglesi nel 1797, dopo il loro tentativo di catturare la città di Santa Cruz de Tenerife durante la guerra anglo-spagnola. Questa guerra, che mise gli spagnoli e i loro alleati francesi contro gli inglesi, dal 1796 fino alla firma del Trattato di Amiens nel 1802, vide diverse battaglie tra le due parti.
