En un tazón de cristal, probablemente reflejando la luz que viene de una ventana a la izquierda, se establece un montón de flores multicolores de diferentes especies: un tulipán variegado, anémonas, carnaciones, rosas, bluebells y otros. Una mariquita descansa en la flor amarilla en primer plano. Una oreja de maíz y un caracol se colocan en el estante, una mesa de madera, en el primer plano. La preciosa pintura, firmada en la esquina inferior derecha, fue hecha por el pintor Nicolas van Veerendael, activo, según historiadores, casi y exclusivamente en Amberes, su ciudad natal.
