Cinque grandi tele raffigurano le storie della Passione di Cristo: Agony in the Garden, Crowning of Thorns, Flagellation, Christ Carrying the Cross, Descent from the Cross. Il gruppo di tele costituiva parte di una monumentale iconostasi nella cappella Avanzi a San Bernardino, di cui la Crocifissione di Francesco Morone nel 1498 fu la prima opera eseguita, seguita da queste e altre da Gianfrancesco Caroto e Nicola Giolfino e conclusi nel 1546 con dipinti di Antonio Badile e Paolo Veronese. La predella di questo gruppo consisteva in quattro pannelli con santi Giuseppe, Giovanni Battista, Bonaventura e beatificato Bernardino di Feltre che, secondo Vasari, sono ritratti di conoscenti di Morando.
