Dieses Gemälde ist von der Landschaft von Cezannes Haus in Aix-en-Provence, wo er viele seiner späteren Jahre Malerei verbrachte. Er entwickelte eine besondere Beziehung zu dieser Landschaft und bemalte viele Rendition davon, vor allem den Berg im Hintergrund. Das Gemälde zeigt deutlich, wie Cezanne versuchte, die Natur der Realität und unsere Wahrnehmung davon darzustellen. Der Berg gibt einfache Formen und das Gebäude im Vordergrund wurden in ihre besondere Form entwickelt, während die gesamte Landschaft intakt bleibt. Cezannes Verwendung von Licht und Farbe geben den Eindruck, dass es nicht seine Rendering der Landschaft, die ihm eine fragmentierte Qualität, sondern dass es eine inhärente Qualität der Landschaft selbst.
