Art Nouveau è stato un movimento internazionale di stile, che ha trovato la propria, ma espressione tipica in ogni paese. La fabbrica di porcellana Rörstrand divenne particolarmente importante per il Liberty scandinavo. Qui, dal 1896 in poi, sono stati creati oggetti in porcellana non convenzionali, spesso unici, che sono stati esposti in gran numero alla fiera mondiale di Parigi nel 1900. Caratteristico degli oggetti Art Nouveau di Rörstrand sono stati la modellazione scultorea della porcellana o la formazione di decorazioni leggermente rilievi, che sono state prese dal mondo delle piante e dei fiori o il tema simbolico dell'acqua, che era molto tipico dell'epoca intorno al 1900, come in questo centrotavola sotto forma di un water lily.
