Nel 1948, Philips venne con un nuovo design per il Philishave, soprannominato l'uovo. Il rasoio ha un supporto a forma di uovo in plastica color avorio con una singola testa di rasatura e motore elettrico incorporato. Per accelerare il processo di rasatura questo disegno è stato aggiornato con una seconda testa di rasatura nel 1951. Questi sono realizzati in acciaio temperato molto sottile e hanno fessure multiple strette per i capelli facciali da incollare. Più tardi arrivò un altro miglioramento: teste di rasatura a molla.
