This dress, created in spring 1960, is one of the most formal Her Majesty owned, clearly shows Balmain’s love of 18th-century European modes and decoration in the style and placement of the scrolling embroidery and the gown’s wide-skirted silhouette. Silk satin with metal - and iridescent-thread and crystal embroidery by House of Lesage.
