Il conte Anton Lamberg-Sprinzenstein (1740-1822) è stato l'ambasciatore diplomatico austriaco a Torino e Napoli e successivamente protettore dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Vienna. Ha lasciato a questa istituzione le sue importanti partecipazioni di arte internazionale e austriaca, rendendola la terza importante collezione pubblica a Vienna. Questo ritratto firmato e datato del conte Anton Lamberg è stato dipinto da Quadal a Napoli. È un ritratto vivace che cattura la sitter come persona privata con il suo cane da caccia in un atteggiamento non posto.
