Artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Style: Impressionism
Date: 1888
Pierre Auguste Renoir (born February 25, 1841, Limoges, France—died December 3, 1919, Cagnes) French painter originally associated with the Impressionist movement. His works were typically Impressionist snapshots of real life, full of sparkling colour and light. Renoir's visit to Italy in 1881 stimulated an interest in subjects inspired by classical antiquity rather than taken from contemporary life. This resulted in series of nudes set in generalised landscape settings which he painted in the late 1880s and 1890s.
