Henri-Benjamin Constant de Rebecque (1767-1830), romanziere francese, oratore politico, e politico si stabilì a Parigi nel 1795 come il protetto di Madame de StaÃ1⁄2l. Membro del Tribunato dal 1799-1802, fu bandito da Napoleone nel 1803. Tornato in Francia nel 1814, accettò un ufficio sotto Napoleone durante i Cento Giorni. Constant fu bandito da Luigi XVIII nel 1815 e tornò in esilio, tornando nel 1816. Ha scritto
