Henri-Benjamin Constant de Rebecque (1767-1830), französischer Roman, politischer Orator und Politiker ließen sich 1795 in Paris als Protégé von Madame de Staýl nieder. Als Mitglied des Tribunate von 1799-1802 wurde er 1803 von Napoleon verbannt. Als er 1814 nach Frankreich zurückkehrte, nahm er während der hundert Tage ein Büro unter Napoleon an. Konstante wurde 1815 von Ludwig XVIII verbannt und ging wieder ins Exil und kehrte 1816 zurück. Er schrieb
