Gasparo Luigi Pacifico Spontini (1779-1851), italienischer Komponist, ließ sich in Paris nieder, wo er seinen Ruf mit Arbeiten im Théâtre-Italien und der Opéra-Comique machte. Kaiserin Josephine ernannte ihn zum persönlichen Musikdirektor und 1812 nannte Friedrich Wilhelm III. Spontini-Direktor der Musik in Berlin, wo er bis zum König blieb.
