Das Gemälde ist eines in einer Serie von sechs Werken, von denen fünf noch extant sind, die verschiedene Zeiten des Jahres darstellen. Wie in vielen seiner Gemälde liegt der Fokus auf Bauern und deren Arbeit. Bemerkenswert ist, dass einige der Bauern während der Ernte essen gezeigt werden, eine diachronische Darstellung sowohl der Produktion als auch des Verzehrs von Lebensmitteln. Das Gemälde befindet sich derzeit im Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
