I supporti gilt-bronze francesi sono stati quasi certamente progettati appositamente per la base e le maniglie di questo vaso di porcellana cinese e non adattati da un repertorio preesistente di elementi decorativi, come spesso accade. Le pesanti pergamene asimmetriche sono legate al lavoro svolto intorno al 1755−60 da Jean-Claude Duplessis, scultore italiano, designer, orafo, modellatore di ceramica e produttore di bronzo che lavora in Francia. Duplessis servì come direttore artistico della Manifattura Vincennes-Sèvres Porcelain dal 1748 fino alla sua morte nel 1774 e divenne orfèvre du roi nel 1758. Fu anche coinvolto direttamente nella creazione di supporti in bronzo per porcellana cinese per Lazare Duvaux, il più prominente marciaand-mercier a Parigi nel 1740 e nel 1750.
