Questa scena appare in una copia successiva di un dipinto di Tang-dynasty che illustra la storia di una leggenda letteraria, Lady Su Hui, che doveva aver vissuto alla fine del IV secolo. La datazione del dipinto originale è sostenuta dai tipi di strumenti raffigurati in esso. Sia l'arpa (konghou) che il pipa giocato con un plectrum sono scomparsi dopo il Tang. Prima fila, da sinistra a destra: qin, pipa, pipa (giocato senza plectrum), paiban Indietro riga, sinistra a destra: dizi, xiao, sheng, konghou
