Una pintura del maestro holandés Rembrandt. Está ubicado en la Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister de Dresden, Alemania. Está firmado "REMBRANDT F.". Retrata a dos personas que habían sido identificadas como el propio Rembrandt y su esposa Saskia. En el mundo contemporáneo protestante, el tema del hijo pródigo era un tema frecuente para las obras de arte debido a su origen moral. El propio Rembrandt pintó un retorno del Hijo Pródigo en 1669. El lado izquierdo del lienzo fue cortado, tal vez por el propio artista, para eliminar caracteres secundarios y centrar la atención del observador en el tema principal.
