Les biens convoités pour les dirigeants musulmans à travers le monde islamique, les manuscrits illustrés étaient des objets très mobiles, échangés et transférés comme cadeaux ou butin de guerre. Cette belle copie du Divan-e Jami partageait le destin de beaucoup d'autres livres luxueux: probablement fait à Shiraz pour un patron riche, il est ensuite entré dans la bibliothèque royale d'Ibrahim
