La brosserie et la composition de cette peinture sont assez proches du style des artistes du XIVe siècle Huang Gongwang (1269 - 1354) et Ni Zan (1301 - 1374). Dans la première section de ce rouleau, Shen Zhou a combiné les styles de Ni et Huang. Il a utilisé les longs traits de texture chanvre-fibre de Huang Gongwang pour peindre les rochers et les collines et a adopté Ni Zan
