Mentre spesso considerava il padre della stampa policroma, o nishiki-e, Harunobu era anche un maestro del formato "pillar print", o hashira-e, che era una stampa stretta alta progettata per decorare pilastri nelle case giapponesi. Il pilastro stampa comunemente raffigurato i bambini e le loro madri impegnati in una serie di compiti. In questa stampa, Harunobu raffigura un attore che tiene un falco con la mano sinistra e uno staff nella mano destra. La semplicità dello sfondo di stampa a pilastri si concentra sull’attore e sull’uccello. Le vesti sono anche semplici nel design, con strisce standard, che richiamano l'attenzione sulle piume ornate dell'uccello.
