Ein Kran strahlt über die Sonne, und der immergrüne Pinienbaum ergänzt die Assoziation dieser Vogelarten mit Langlebigkeit. Das einfache, kühne Bild kann als abgekürzte Darstellung des Mount Hōrai angesehen werden, mythische Insel der Unsterblichen, die am Beginn des Mondkalenders zur Anzeige bestimmt ist. Suzuki Kiitsu, Schüler von Sakai Hōitsu (1761–1828), sorgte für die Kontinuität der Rinpa-Kunst in moderne Zeiten und belebte ein Genre, das sonst übermäßig formuliert und statisch geworden wäre.
