Ein Zweig des Bambus erstreckt sich über diese Handschlaufe, seine knallenden Blätter streifen ein Gedicht, das vom Künstler beschriftet wird. Der Vers zeigt, dass die Szene vom Mondlicht beobachtet wurde, nachdem der Künstler aus einem scharfen Nickerchen geweckt hatte: Der Mond sinkt in der vierten Uhr niedrig, Papierfenster scheinen leer, aus einem betrunkenen Schlaf, ich propiere meinen Kopf und las awile, Lofty Gedanken— Ich zwinge mich, kann ihm aber nicht helfen;Zehn Stängel, noch grün im Winter, werfen profuse Schatten.— Übersetzung nach Marc F.
