Questo paesaggio con l'architettura gustosa appartiene allo stile "blu-verde" della pittura del paesaggio che si è sviluppato in Tang-dynasty (618-907) La Cina, dove lo stile persisteva come un modo accademico conservatore, e fu ripresa in forma monumentale durante la dinastia Ming (1368-1644). Le opere di Qiu Ying, pittore professionista attivo a Suzhou nella prima metà del XVI secolo, sono state tesoriate in Giappone e probabilmente sono state l'ispirazione per questo dipinto. Tani Bunchō è stato un artista prolifico e storico dell'arte che ha lavorato in molti stili cinesi e giapponesi. Il dipinto è firmato Bunchō e porta un sigillo grande e raramente trovato.
