Artista: Thomas Buttersworth
El MADELEINE, propiedad del Commodore John S. Dickerson del Brooklyn Yacht Club y diseñado por Jacob Voorhis, tenía una historia ilustres. Fue construida en 1868 por David Kirby en Rye, Nueva York como un bucle central. En 1870, MADELEINE fue parcialmente reconstruido y convertido a un escooner, convirtiéndose más tarde en miembro de la flota del New York Yacht Club en 1876. Ese año defendió la Copa de Estados Unidos contra el desafiante canadiense COUNTESS OF DUFFERIN. Más inteligente en la flota del New York Yacht Club, MADELEINE ganó fácilmente la Copa.
