Un raffreddatore era una brocca alta usata per immagazzinare e dispensare grandi quantità di una bevanda attraverso il foro bunghole-a impostato sopra il fondo del vaso (dove i sedimenti avrebbero raccolto). Si ritiene che il vasaio britannico Thomas Chandler abbia introdotto la forma più fredda a Edgefield dal New England. Si pensa che questa nave sia stata fatta per il matrimonio di una coppia di schiavi favoriti. La decorazione raffigura un uomo e una donna che si tostano a vicenda. Sotto di loro sono un maiale e, a quanto pare, una rappresentazione di questo cooler, entrambi possono aver giocato una parte nella celebrazione di nozze. Questa brocca è considerata il pezzo più sorprendente della merce Edgefield conosciuta oggi.
