St. James’s Park era vicino alla residenza di Londra di Gainsborough, Schomberg House, a Pall Mall. Il lungo viale alberato chiamato Mall, che corre a sud del Palazzo di San Giacomo, era un luogo alla moda per passeggiare nel XVIII secolo.
