Hinckley dipinse paesaggi principalmente come sfondo ai suoi ritratti di animali selvatici e addomesticati. Lo sketchbook compreso questo paesaggio sembra essere stato riempito durante un tour che Hinckley probabilmente ha cominciato vicino al Delaware Water Gap e esteso a nord nelle Catskill Mountains e Adirondacks di New York Sate.
