South gate is centre left flanked by buildings / shops on either side with figure clusters on extreme bottom left (in disussion) and bottom right (next to a horse, cart and dog). Rowlandson visited Devon and Cornwall while staying with his friend Matthew Michell (of Bodmin) during this period though he lived at 2 Robert Street, Adelphi, London
