Dipinto nel modo più succulento e pittoresco di Sully, "Musidora" è il suo unico nudo conosciuto. Ispirato dal poema di James Thomson Summer (1727), è subito casto ed erotico, una combinazione che ha avuto grande fascino per il pubblico vittoriano contemporaneo. Sully raffigura la modesta Musidora nel momento in cui il suo pretendente, Damon, scopre il suo bagno nella foresta. La sua condotta signorile la impressiona che lei promette il suo amore per lui subito. Il soggetto è stato dipinto da molti artisti del giorno, ma l'interpretazione di Sully, in cui lo spettatore inconsapevole svolge il ruolo di Damon, è sorprendentemente unica.
