Un gregge di cormoranti e alcuni gabbiani sulle scogliere. Sullo sfondo, le isole nel sole di mezzanotte. Thorolf Holmboe nacque a Vefsn in Norvegia settentrionale e si trasferì con la sua famiglia a Tromsø più a nord all'età di 10 anni. Suo padre gestiva una galleria d'arte e fondò il Tromsø Art Society. Holmboe è stato chiaramente affascinato dalla bellezza del sole di mezzanotte poiché questo è uno dei suoi dipinti con un motivo simile, un paesaggio in cui possiamo vedere sia il sole di mezzanotte che le isole sullo sfondo.
