Questa è la prima versione della serie Danaë, è stata dipinta da Tiziano. Basato sulla figura mitologica di Danaë. Secondo Ovid, era isolata in una prigione. Danaë fu sedotta e rimase incinta di Zeus (nella mitologia romana Giove), che scendeva dal Monte Olimpo e la invocò come una doccia d'oro. Tiziano ha raffigurato Danaë con il corpo carnoso di una cortigiana, anche se le è data le caratteristiche facciali di una signora veneziana contemporanea aggraziata, con una figura voluttuosa. Le gambe sono aperte in tutto, con la gamba sinistra arcuata; questo è un motivo pittorico centrale. Il lato sinistro della tela è un lato interno destro, Eros in piedi. La serie Danaë è stata molto influente e ha interessato l'opera di Rembrandt, Anthony van Dyck e Gustav Klimt, che tutti hanno dipinto le versioni della scena.
