Le détail montre la Vierge Annunciate. Dans un âge complètement façonné par le christianisme, il aurait été évident que les deux panneaux supérieurs, montrant Marie à droite et un ange à gauche, appartenaient ensemble comme une Annonciation. C'était aussi un arrangement trouvé dans beaucoup d'autres polyptyques. Sans le savoir, cependant, il serait tout à fait concevable de voir les deux scènes dans le cadre des scènes centrales, la Résurrection du Christ.
