Tribolo, escultor e ingeniero, diseñó el jardín adosado, y las fuentes del nivel inferior para la Villa Medici Castello en Rifredi, cerca de Florencia. La Fuente de Hércules y Antaeus, ejecutada por varios escultores después de 1536, es la más temprana del complejo de fuentes renacentistas totalmente desarrollado. A partir de entonces, la decoración de las fuentes proporcionó uno de los principales puntos para la escultura.
