Una giovane donna in un kimono sheer si siede su una panca di bambù accanto a un laghetto, fingendosi per placare il caldo estivo. Ha buttato via uno dei suoi sandali di geta, e ha piegato la gamba sinistra in una posa rilassata. Iris completamente fioriti nel laghetto paludoso indicano il quinto mese lunare, la metà dell'estate. La cresta sul ventilatore mostra il personaggio Kō o Ko Iglesias al centro di un triplo-mimasu (scatola di risanamento) motivo che è stato utilizzato tra il 1772 e il 1801 dal popolare attore Kabuki Ichikawa Komazō (Matsumoto Kōshirō V, 1764–1838). Supponendo che il dipinto sia stato fatto mentre l'attore stava ancora usando questa cresta, il lavoro probabilmente risale a circa 1800, relativamente tardi nella carriera di Utagawa Toyohiro, quando le sue raffigurazioni di figure femminili sono diventate più allungate e willowy.
