L19 war ein deutscher Zeppelin, der am 1. Februar 1916 an einer Bombardierung über England teilnahm. Auf der Rückreise nach Hause wurde das Luftschiff über Holland abgeblasen, wo es Anti-Flugzeugfeuer anzog und beschädigt wurde. Das Luftschiff ging in die Nordsee mit der Besatzung am Leben, aber klammerte sich an das Wrack. Ein nahe gelegener britischer Fischertrawler, König Stephen, weigerte sich, trotz ihrer Bitten die Crew des Flugschiffs zu unterstützen, und alle wurden ertrunken. (Der Vorfall ist auf einer Medaille von Karl Goetz, Nr. 66) dargestellt. Die Bezugnahme auf das U-Boot U-22 ist hier jedoch nicht klar. U-22 (genauer gesagt, UB-22) war nicht an irgendwelchen herausragenden Vorfällen mit den Briten beteiligt, obwohl die U-Boote 1917 versunken war über zwei Dutzend Schiffe, darunter viele britische Schiffe. Die lateinische Inschrift auf der Rückseite der Medaille von Eberbach stammt aus Virgils Aeneid (IV.625).
