Wang Jian, insegnante di Wang Hui e amico stretto di Wang Shimin, si trova al centro del gruppo di studiosi-artisti che hanno cercato di stabilire una nuova ortodossia nella pittura attraverso lo studio vigoroso dei maestri passati. In questo album gemello, Wang ri-creato in scala miniatura gli idiomi di Song (960-1279) e Yuan (1279-1368) maestri di dinastia. Consapevole del suo ruolo di trasmettitore, Wang incise ogni foglia con il nome dell'artista il cui stile ha interpretato insieme ad un accoppiato appropriato dal poeta della dinastia Tang Du Fu (712–770).
