Come giovane, Wang Xuehao ha studiato con un nipote di Wang Yuanqi, che lo ha addestrato negli elementi che hanno reso il modo di Wang più anziano così amato: sciolto dotting, audace interplay di solido e vuoto, e una scomodità studiata di linea che in qualche modo non è mai partito dall'eleganza. Wang Xuehao, come i suoi mentori davanti a lui, era particolarmente interessato al pittore del XIV secolo Huang Gongwang, il cui modo di interpretare qui.
