Schenck bemalte diese präzise Darstellung des neuen Depots der Third Avenue Railroad Company und diente als Superintendent des Unternehmens (1856–64). Im Jahre 1857 fertiggestellt (und nur vier Jahre später durch Feuer zerstört) wurde das hübsche Ziegelbauwerk auf der Third Avenue zwischen 65. und 66. Straße in New York City. Neben der zeitgenössischen Popularität des Pferde-gezeichneten Straßenwagens umfasste Schenck auch einen Heißluftballon am Himmel, der in winzigen Buchstaben als Atlantik identifiziert wurde. Die Besitzer des Ballons, John Wise und John LaMountain, hofften, es über den Atlantik zu fliegen, um eine völlig neue Form des Transports zu initiieren, aber sie nie gelang.
