A Le Pouldu nel 1895, Slewinski incontrò le sorelle russe Marie ed Eugenie Schewtzoff. Dipinse i loro ritratti nel 1897 e mostrò le tele nella galleria Georges Thomas a Parigi nel 1898. Questo è il ritratto del suo futuro cognato Marie Schewtzoff (1874-1927). Una musa per gli artisti, acquisì diverse tele di Filiger e O’Conor e conobbe il poeta Ernest Dowson, che le dedicò una poesia nel 1896. Nel 1900 sposò Ernest Le Grand, musicista di Nantes; sua sorella Eugenie sposò Slewinski nel 1899. Slewinski ha usato toni sombre e una tavolozza armoniosa di verde scuro, giallo brillante e burgundy-pink in questo ritratto. Come era la sua abitudine, ha messo un mazzo di fiori e alcuni libri accanto al suo modello, che ha posato contro uno sfondo neutro. Il punto focale del lavoro è il volto attentamente osservato della donna.
