Yrsselius était à l'origine un comprimé sépulcrale accompagné d'une épitaphe qui ne survit pas aujourd'hui. La tablette a été initialement placée par la tombe de l'abbé dans l'église de l'abbaye de Saint-Michael. Quelques années avant sa mort, l'abbé donna à l'église un retable pour le haut autel, avec une peinture Rubens de l'Adoration des Mages.
