Zha Shengs Talent als Dichter und Kalligraph gewann ihn beim frühen Qing-Gericht, wo er als wissenschaftliches Amt diente. Diese Transkription eines Gedichts des berühmten Northern Song Recluse Lin Bu (967–1028) verzaubert die Tugenden eines einfachen Lebens, aber die Botschaft ist etwas seltsam mit dem luxuriösen Gold Satin, auf dem das Stück geschrieben wird. Das Gedicht liest, zum Teil:Bambus und Bäume umgeben meine Wohnung, Ein klarer Strom bietet mehr als genug Aufregung. Leicht, ein Kran verschließt eine Weile am Wasser,Lazily, Bienen entspannen sich, wie Blumen sind wenig. Übersetzung nach Shi-ye Liu
