张山子又名"正兰"或"泽"并有礼名"相相",生于四川省内江. 他是张大ian的长兄,少年时代主要从母亲那里学画. 早年去日本向东行走并出任"通商会"即"中国联会"会长. 1907年回中国. 他与张大ian一起创办了"大丰通画院"(大丰通花柏)并会同黄斌红,马贵州,于建华等四所创办了"兰门会". 他擅长绘画地貌,花卉和野兽等作品,并特别出名于他的"老虎"画作.
