Dieser Handschlaufe Abschnitt brillant verkapselt die Eleganz von Momoyama Gericht Kalligraphie, hier beschriftet auf üppig dekorierten Papier mit Chrysanthemen und Pampas Gräsern in Gold und Silber. Das „cloud-patterned paper“ (kumogami) mit blau- und lila gefärbten, welligen Wolkenmotiven, ruft die ästhetischen Sinnlichkeiten des alten heischen Hofes hervor. Der Kalligraph, Konoe Sakihisa, ein Höflicher Hochrang, wurde als einer der talentiertesten Kalligraphen seines Tages anerkannt. Beide Texte beziehen sich auf Chrysanthemen und sind im Herbst Teil der japanischen und chinesischen Gedichte an Sing, die einflussreiche Anthologie, kompiliert von höflicher Fujiwara no Kintō um 1014, enthalten. Die chinesische Kuppel von Bai Juyi (772–846) wird in Kanji gestaffelt in vier Spalten geschrieben; links sind zwei Spalten von eleganten Kana repräsentiert die erste Hälfte von einem Waka von Fujiwara no Toshiyuki (gest. ca. 907).
