Walter Scott (1851-1925) designed watch cases and jewellery and taught at the School of Art in Coventry. He painted landscapes in Gloucestershire, Wales and the Lake District, as wellas in Warwickshire. This view of Stoke Heath near Coventry depicts a romanticview of tumbling clouds and open heathland. Stoke Heath originally had a large number of elm treessome of which could still be seen on Heath Crescent and Common Way when houseswere built on the area. Sadly the trees were destroyed by Dutch Elm disease inthe 1970s.
