The sitter - Hermine Gallia, née Hamburger (1870 - 1936). В 1893 году она вышла замуж за своего дядю Мориц Галлия, правительственного советника, который стал главным покровителем искусств. В этой картине она носит платье, разработанное Климтом. Существует множество рисунков для состава этой работы, и несколько изменений видны невооруженным глазом, большая часть фигуры.
