Ссылки на колодцы Авраама, как они обычно известны, содержатся в Бытии (21:23–24 и 26:23–3). Кубертин обычно рисовал религиозные предметы, но на этой картине он изображал сайт как сцену современной жизни. Эта картина была выставлена на Парижском салоне 1850–51.
