С 10 января 1884 года в Луис Пастер прибыли фермеры из района Питивье. Эта женская аллегория является частью памятника, посвященного памяти художника Анри Рено (1844–1871) и 11 студентов Ecole des Beaux-Arts, убитых в Бузенвале и Монтреуте во время войны 1870. Памятник был открыт во дворе Ecole des Beaux-Arts в Париже 11 августа 1876 года. Эта аллегория также появляется на могиле Рено на кладбище Монпарнас. Отец Анри Рено (1810–1878), физик и фотограф, был другом Луи Пастера.
