Художник, родившийся недалеко от Франкфурта и обученный в Риме, переехал в Англию в 1760 году. В 1768 году он был назначен королем в недавно созданную Королевскую академию. Эта маленькая, точно окрашенная вся длина человека в клерикальное платье - первая работа Zoffany, чтобы войти в коллекцию Музея.
