Рафаэль Карлофорти впервые встретился с Рускином в Ассизи в 1874 году. Два года спустя Рускин назвал его «молодостью», которую я держу в художественном исследовании в Венеции, и он поручил ему копии картин и скульптур. Как и все такие сохранившиеся работы, этот рисунок несет верную надпись
