A standing young woman, on her feet, profiled to the right. One of several paintings of standing women titled ""Arrangement..." from the 1874-77 years for which Maud Franklin, the mistress of the artist, posed. The subtitle "Effie Deans" was first used in 1886. the inscription and signature were probably only added in 1889.
